Gujarat resident harvests 1.5 crore litres of rainwater annually
Vispi Baji Kasad, a resident of Navsari, Gujarat, has been harvesting rainwater for 12 years. His efforts have led to the collection of over 1.5 crore litres annually, significantly improving the groundwater level from 330 feet to between 40 and 60 feet. This initiative has also resulted in savings of more than 20 crore for the community.
Vispi Baji Kasad, a resident of Laxminagar Society in Navsari, Gujarat, has made significant progress in sustainable water management through rainwater harvesting. Over the past 12 years, Kasad has successfully diverted rainwater from local roads, covering an area of more than 25,000 square feet, into a dedicated harvesting well. This initiative has enabled him to collect over 1.5 crore litres of rainwater each year, resulting in a notable improvement in the area's groundwater levels. The water table, which was once at a depth of around 330 feet, has now risen to between 40 and 60 feet, reflecting the positive effects of his work on the local environment and community.
