India Completes 512 Development Projects in Nepal

As of August 2026, India has reached a significant milestone in its development partnership with Nepal, having completed 512 out of 605 approved projects since the program began in 2003. These initiatives, part of the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), have played a crucial role in enhancing local infrastructure and improving living standards across all seven provinces of Nepal. Among the completed projects is the operation theater building at Rapti Eye Hospital in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City. The HICDP program, which has been active for over two decades, aims to address the specific needs of local communities in Nepal. In January 2024, a significant agreement between India and Nepal raised the maximum budget limit per project from three crore to 20 crore Nepali rupees, enabling the development of modern, quality infrastructure that directly benefits communities.
