Merck and Moderna have announced successful results from the Phase 3 INTerpath-001 trial, which tested intismeran autogene (mRNA-4157/V940) with KEYTRUDA (pembrolizumab) in patients whose stage IIB-IV melanoma had been completely resected. The trial achieved its primary goal of recurrence-free survival (RFS), as well as a secondary goal of distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS). The outcome is a significant step forward in treating melanoma, as it demonstrates the effectiveness of adding a personalized mRNA-based therapy to a standard immunotherapy. Findings from the trial will be presented at an upcoming international medical meeting and submitted for review by regulatory authorities.
