Samsung Chooses Eight University Projects for 2026 START Program
Samsung Research America announced the selection of eight research projects for its 2026 START Program. Chosen from over 400 proposals submitted by more than 130 universities across North America, the selected institutions include Stanford University, CMU, and the University of Washington. These projects cover diverse areas such as Agentic AI and Digital Health, aiming to drive innovation through collaboration.
Samsung Research America (SRA) named eight new projects for its 2026 START Program, an initiative that supports innovation through academic collaboration. The projects were selected from a field of over 400 proposals from more than 130 universities across North America. The awardees include researchers from Stanford University, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), the University of Washington, and Princeton University, as well as the University of Michigan, Purdue University, and the University of Victoria.
The chosen projects cover a broad spectrum of research areas including Agentic AI, Physical AI, Advanced Communications, Multimedia, Digital Health, and AI Security.
The START Program is built on collaboration between the chosen universities and SRA. These new awardees will partner with SRA’s researchers, joining 27 existing university collaborators. Wonil Roh, President of SRA, stated that these collaborations provide valuable opportunities for translating academic research into real-world impact. The partnership aims to combine academic insights with SRA's engineering capabilities to help develop next-generation technologies.
