The mission, designated Starlink 10-39, deployed its payload into low Earth orbit. The launch took place at 11:14 a.m. EDT, following an earlier scrub due to an undisclosed issue.
The Falcon 9 booster used for this mission, B1078, was completing its 30th flight. The rocket departed from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral, with the 45th Weather Squadron having predicted an 85 percent chance of favorable conditions for the launch window.
About 8.5 minutes after liftoff, the Falcon 9’s first stage booster returned for a landing on the droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. It was the 164th successful recovery on that particular droneship and the 652nd landing for SpaceX overall.
