World Vision Completes Sh1.4 Billion Water Project in Homa Bay

World Vision Kenya has successfully completed the Kodera Rachuonyo Gravity Water Project, officially handed over to the Homa Bay county government on August 24, 2026. Valued at Sh1.4 billion, this comprehensive project aims to provide reliable access to clean piped water for residents in the Kasipul and Karachuonyo constituencies. By implementing this project, World Vision enhances the quality of life for thousands of individuals and families who previously relied on unsafe water sources.

The historical context of water access in Homa Bay highlights the challenges faced by local communities. Before the implementation of the Kodera Rachuonyo project, many residents walked over 5 kilometers to reach unsafe water sources, such as ponds, rivers, and dams. This situation not only posed significant health risks, including frequent cholera outbreaks, but also consumed valuable time and resources that could have been spent on productive activities. The new water project addresses these long-standing issues by providing a sustainable solution to water access in the region.

The project includes the construction of 14 water pans, 80 roof catchment water tanks, and two water supply schemes specifically in Pala village.
