Avangrid Reports 8% Increase in Electricity Generation in 2026
Avangrid generated 13,891 GWh of electricity in the first half of 2026, an 8% increase from the previous year, fueled by new solar projects and growing capacity across the U.S.
In the first half of 2026, U.S. energy company Avangrid, Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, generated 13,891 GWh of electricity. This was an 8% increase over the same period in 2025, driven largely by new solar projects coming online. The total output is enough to power more than 2.6 million U.S. homes.
The increase in generation comes from both strong operational performance and the addition of new capacity. Avangrid operates nearly 100 facilities across the United States, and its total installed capacity surpassed 11 GW earlier this year. Recent projects include Bakeoven Solar, Daybreak Solar, and Tower Solar in Oregon, as well as developments in California, Ohio, and Texas.
Beyond generating electricity, the company’s renewable energy projects also affect local economies. In 2025, Avangrid’s onshore projects generated $61 million in local tax revenue. This money helps support essential public services such as education and public safety.
To meet rising electricity demand across the country, Avangrid is expanding its generation portfolio. The company is actively developing new projects designed to enhance its capacity and improve grid reliability, helping to ensure a dependable energy supply for both households and businesses.
